Hysterectomy Education

Hysterectomies are performed without patients getting informed about choices and side effects of this major surgery. I have started this blog to inform everyone, especially patients and doctors that hysterectomies render women unable to cope with normal life and education in key in avoiding the pitfalls of this surgery.

To show everyone why this surgery is not a good choice, I have been interviewing women and medical professionals to find out whether I was the only one who became a different person with side effects including:

  • Memory loss
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Muscle and bone pain
  • Weight gain
  • Thyroid problems
  • Acid reflux
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Panic attacks
  • Hot flashes
  • Depression

Little did I know I was not alone until I started my research. I was appalled to find out that even though I had consult six different doctors before submitting to the only option I was given - hysterectomy, even though I kept insisting on less invasive procedures, to find that hundreds of thousands of women who have suffered the same plight as me and I was not "the only one having problems" as indicated by my doctors post surgery.

As a wife and a working mother of three teenagers, I went down in a spin trying to cope with life, eventually losing my job while on disability and my disability insurance was thus terminated as I was no longer employed. In no shape to fight this injustice, I had to find ways to find my energy and health again and four years later after feeling a little better with alternative treatments, I decided to use this new health to inform everybody out there.

If you know anyone contemplating this surgery, please ask them to not do it unless cancer or imminent death would result. Just to let you know, hysterectomy for fibroids is never performed in France but in the United States, this is a standard recommendation.

Please help me in this venture to inform and educate everyone. I am still learning and would love to hear your hysterectomy stories to build a knowledge base for the sake of humanity and to prevent this suffering.

Thanks and I salute you.
